4. Defining Participant Eligibility and Communicating Opportunity
Coaching is a unique and exciting learning and development opportunity and often produces stronger, more lasting results than other L&D offerings. That lasting effect is largely due to the fact that, as opposed to other L&D methods, coaching is driven by the participant. While coaching is powerful, it might not be the solution for everyone - for example, coaching participants chosen because they're performing poorly due to lack of professional drive may struggle with setting goals for coaching the same way they struggle to set them in their daily work. While there are no set rules around who should and should not pursue coaching, we have some suggested criteria to consider when selecting your participants. Anyone in the groups below should make an excellent candidate to receive coaching.
- Recently promoted managers and leaders (or anyone else looking to grow their leadership skills)
- Recently promoted individual contributors
- High-performing individual contributors
- Underserved groups (members of DEI initiatives, working parents, non-neurotypical employees, etc.)
- Employees being currently considered for promotion
- Anyone who "raises their hand" for coaching (if they're showing initiative to request it, they're likely to succeed)
Once you've defined eligible participants for your program, you're ready for the next step. If your program includes 15 or more participants, get in touch with your Sayge Coaching Consultant for help setting up your pre-launch call. Otherwise, you'll find our Internal Communications Guide for communicating coaching opportunities in the Documents section of your dashboard - if you haven't already communicated with your participants about their coaching opportunity, this guide will give you some guidance to do so. Once the opportunity has been communicated, you're ready to Add and Invite your Participants so that they can get started.
Now that you've finished our getting started guide, you're ready to take your next steps - you can find the answers to any questions you have along the way here in our Help Center, or you can always reach out to support@hellosayge.com for help anytime.
We're so excited for you and your participants start your coaching journey!
